Peppermint Friday Review #46: Dunkirk

Hello its been a while, I'm very sorry for the lack of content on here recently but I'm still alive (just about!) its been extremely busy in the life of Zara. If you follow me on my instagram or twitter you might know that I have a new job well ish its something that I'm doing and I'm really enjoying. It's meant that its taken up alot of time, and what I mean by that is, its taken up alot of time, and time that I would have used to watch films and its hard to find that time. This blog is not over I still love it I just need to be abit more disciplined when it comes to time management and such. 

Let's talk about Dunkirk I watched this on Sunday night, and I've been so so so excited for this film since Suicide Squad I say that I remember the trailer of this coming out before watching Suicide Squad. Its so worth the wait, because its just simply gorgeous, the way the camera techniques were done and everything was just wonderful, it felt at times that you were in battle, the way the camera was and I loved that. I have never seen a film about Dunkirk before, and I'm glad the first one I got to see was this one such a brilliant film and well written. 

Its a quiet film, but thats something I've noticed alot in terms of War films and Period Drama films that are good they're usually very still and let the film speak for itself, instead of shouting about it. Kenneth Branagh was brilliant as per, you don't expect anything less from him let's be honest. Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors ever, and one of the best directors, this film has just made me love Christopher Nolan even more. Personally I think this is my favorite of his films so far of course, because I know he'll do more films which I'm so excited for and obviously I'll go and see. I have a prediction I think, he will get a really prestigious award, like an Oscar, BAFTA or Golden Globe because he really deserves it for this film. 

The film is told in three different ways, so the Land, Sea and Air. In the sea the Navy need private boats to help out in evacuation, Mr Dawson takes his son Peter to help out along with George who wants to do something and contribute. I love how all that plays out with them, and as they get survivors the story progresses with all the characters in the boat without forcing it too much. I love history and to find out about different stories whether they be true or not, its wonderful and its life on the edge. The story had to be done well, because its such an integral part of history and Great Britain aswell, so I'm thrilled that its got the reviews it has. 

Harry Styles was good, I don't get why people are going so gaga for him I mean it is cus he's Harry Styles but he was good in this film and if he does acting in the future then great he could be the next Justin Timberlake if he plays his cards right. But see this for how amazing it is not because of Harry Styles, but hey if Harry Styles is getting people into films and cinema I'm not gonna complain because its always a good thing to have more people into films. 

Definitely give this film a watch it's worth your money 100% and when the DVD comes out or when it becomes downloadable on Amazon, I'm gonna be buying it as it is so wonderful, its the kinda film everyone will like, well apart from when you're a 5 year old but that doesn't matter. Its a all rounded amazing grown up film to watch. Oh and one last thing because I missed last Friday I'm doing 2 Friday reviews one will be uploaded either today or tomorrow to make up for not doing a review. Peppermint Friday Review #44: Foxcatcher

Its been a week and no posts not gonna explain why as you'll know I do try to have a life outside of the blogger-sphere. We're just gonna get straight into talking about Foxcatcher as I've never seen it before so its from someone's fresh eyes if that makes sense. 

The story is based off a true story of the Schultz brothers who were pretty big in the wrestling world Mark and Dave who were both played by Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. Mark is spotted by a multi millionaire and owner of Foxcatchers John Du Pont who is played by Steve Carell who sends him to Foxcatchers a camp to train and compete. Its also about the events before the murder of Dave Schultz. You may have heard of this story in news or just from this film like me, but its a compltelye new film for me and you know what I'm like with my biopics. 

It mainly centres around Mark which I find quite funny as his character is in the middle between his brother Dave and John his coach. But he isn't neutral at all, he is actually quite sensitive as he takes things quite strongly and is affected by John and his brother which is understandable as he really looked up to both of them. I love Channing Tatum in this, its funny because like with Brad Pitt peopel only see him as this gorgeous man and yes he is but he's also an amazing actor and in this he is the best I've ever seen, as I've only seen him really in Step Up, Dear John, She's the man and they are very teenage films which I love its just nice to see him in a different light and I can't wait for the next roles he'll take as I'll definitely watch him. 

Steve Carell in this film is so different to how I normally see him, similar to Tatum I've only seen him in one light its my own fault really as I just haven't seen him in many things. He's like Robin Williams in a way where, he's amazing at being funny and crazy but also brilliant at being still and very in the moment. There were times of watching him I felt abit uncomfortable as he gave off this image of 'I can get what I want' and it doesn't matter about how hard someone's training and the real true work wrestlers have its the money. With saying that I'm not an expert in wrestling just its a sport and you train for it. 

Its directed by Bennett Miller a director who I'm not familiar with as he hasn't made that many films, but this film is amazing and I can't wait for more of his work. If you liked The Social Network and The Founder then you'll love this as its so still its got people/characters that are predominately human because humans are selfish and make massive mistakes and mess up massively. The colouring of the film is again very similar to The Social Network and The Founder as they all in the same vein of films I think anyway and I love those kinds of films, as they're so refreshing to watch. 

                                                               
I think its a wonderful film, so different and unique to watch if you wanna see Steve Carell, Mark Ruffelo and Channing Tatum in a film and all amazing then watch this film as its wonderful. I'll see you all later and have a wonderful day/week 

Review: An American Tail

Happy 4th of July to all my American followers, I thought we'd start July with a very American style week. We're gonna start of with talking about a film that I feel should describe Americans haven't been there in ages, but from what I've been told and hearing about the place and people, I feel its pretty accurate but correct me if I'm wrong. 

The story is about a family called the Mousekewitzs a Russian-Jewish family who live in a tiny little house in Russia until one day circumstances arise and they have to move to America. That's the holy grail, they talk about it like its this perfect all amazing place, where there's no cats or anything bad and the streets have cheese everywhere. Fievel who is the main character one of the kids gets lost on the journey from Russia to America and he makes friends with the locals, like Tony, Honest John, Bridget and many more they help him find his family along the way.

I love this story so much, the fact that its about immigration a topic that has been discussed not only in America but everywhere and for years and its been inserted into a children's animation is wonderful. As it teaches children but also adults that no matter who you meet you should try to help as much as you can, because you never go what someone may or may not be going through its also something you should just do. The art of the film is wonderful, and the music is beautiful too but the real big thing here is the story and characters.

Its so political aswell, one of the characters called Gussie Mausheimer who rallies the mice against the cats, she reminds me off Emmeline Pankhurst in a way. There's also another character called Tiger who's a cat but a nice one as he is a vegetarian apart from fish and befriends Fievel and joins the search to find his family. Its made by Universal Pictures and directed by Don Bluth who has been in competition with Disney as who's the best or not. Personally I'm a Disney gal only because I've grown up with Disney but I do have some very fond happy, nostalgic memories of Don Bluth's beautiful stories.

Don Bluth actually worked with Walt Disney on Fox and the Hound but wasn't happy with the way things were done. So he set up his own studio luckily he's quite a well connected guy and is friends with Stephen Spielberg, who helped produce it. This film was one of Don Bluth's first and one of his best its so wonderfully written and I love that its called 'Tail' and not 'Tale'. It's also so underrated, I barely hear people say how much they love this film or maybe I might not be listening either way its amazing film and people should watch. Especially adults as, in the UK and America aswell immigration has become a huge topic well its always been a huge topic and the simple matter is if someone is in need you help them regardless. 

                                                                   
I'm so happy I watched this film, as its so wonderfully made with a beautiful message to give to anyone. It just shows that films can have such an impact they're not just some fun mindless thing you can watch and forget about it. They can tell stories and change your perspective on things and also really nails what I think about immigration and how you should treat people. Overall its a wonderful story that needs to be watched and told again and again. 

Peppermint Friday Review #42: The Prince and the Showgirl

From watching Some Like It Hot I kinda went abit crazy over Marilyn Monroe and plus I just realised I haven't done a Friday review with Marilyn yet, I did All About Eve but that was before she became the big star, with this one its so amazing and a film is based on her experiences of this film, My Week With Marilyn which I may do a review on. 

Its about a Carpathian Prince (played by Laurence Olivier) who attends a performance of The Coconut Girl and meets the cast afterwards he takes a particular liking to Elsie Marina (played by Marilyn Monroe) she is invited back to his house to her thinking it was for a party or a big dinner but it was for the Prince to seduce her, the two end up falling in love and its just about her being an American Showgirl and a Prince who's used to doing things in quite a restricted way. As his upbringing is very much don't do this, say this and constantly being told what to do, whereas with Elsie she is very bubbly and is much more outspoken than the Prince, even though if he doesn't like something he'll say it.

I love the couple individually and together, but if you knew what happened behind the scenes where Laurence Olivier was horrible to Marilyn. Olivier also directed this film and acted in the play version of the film by Terrence Rattigan, Olivier's wife Viven Leigh played Elsie in the play version, which is really funny as we all know what kinda characters Marilyn plays and the characters Viven plays, you wouldn't think they could ever play the same character. But Marilyn really bought something different and special to the role, its a flirty character, but also very emotional and empathetic.

The costumes of the film were just beautiful, and wonderfully made as all the characters had a particular style, I love Elsie's dress the colour, the length, the style of it all, I just love it and need it plus she makes it look gorgeous. The party scene was amazing everything was in such synchronicity with the dancing, not one person was off. I also loved Sybil Thorndike as Queen Dowager she was just wonderful, one thing I loved about the script and the writing of it all was whenever Elsie spoke to her, the Queen had to be reminded of what she said it made me laugh for some reason I don't know why. 

I love how the scenes were shot and made its as if they were created just there on the spot so effortlessly done. A few characters who made it on the favorite list were, King Nicolas who was played by Jeremy Spenser I loved his voice whenever he shouted or lost his temper, it was always really high and it made me laugh. Northbrook played by Richard Wattis was brilliant loved how he used his voice. All of Elsie's friends were just brilliant, so funny and amazing totally unaware of what pressure she may be under. 

                                                                   
The ending was amazingly done, I like that its kinda up to us, as to what happened between them, did they ever meet again or was there classes far too different from each other. I might actually do a review of My Week With Marilyn as I always find it interesting the behind the scenes of films. This is a wonderful film to watch with a great story to tell, whether you are a long time fan of Marilyn or just heard about her, regardless you should definitely watch her as she is a real star. 

Review: Some Like It Hot

Its been awhile since I talked about a classic and I was having a bit of a bad day and what do you do on a bad day? you watch one of your favourite films of course. It's also one of my mum and dad's favourite films and one of the first films that got me into Classic Films. 

If you don't know what this film is about I'll give you a brief synopsis as everyone has seen this film. Its about two men Joe and Jerry (played by Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) who are Jazz Musicians and they have to get out of town so they get jobs as Jazz Musicians on tour the only problem is, that it's only female Jazz Musicians. So Joe and Jerry go undercover dressed as women called Josie and Daphne they meet Sugar who is the lead vocalist (played by Marilyn Monroe) they make friends with her and Josie/Joe falls in love with her by pretending to be a millionaire. 

It is such a funny film, I like that its been out since 1958 and yet its still funny and brilliant. I don't think I've met anyone who's said a bad word about this film, its either they love it or they haven't seen it. Its got so many memorable quotes and I mean its got Marilyn Monroe that's already an amazing film, and I've spoken about Marilyn in depth before but I always love talking about her. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon are so brilliant and they bounce off each other so well, with both of them being funny and none of them being boring at the same time.

Both of them have such different personalities Joe/Josie starts off being serious and getting the job done, whereas Jerry/Daphne is taking is seriously but can't help but love being around beautiful women, Joe/Josie ends up falling in love with Sugar by pretending to be a millionaire. Jerry/Daphne pulls Osgood Fielding III (played by Joe E Brown) who is completely smitten by her and has the hilarious line in the end 'nobody's perfect'. It's great with comedy especially with duos as its always one person has to be the clown and the other has to be a little be serious the 'straight one' as we say in comedy. 

One of the things I find when watching this film is that its such a classic and I know people's comedy tastes are different and they've changed over time but you can't beat two men dressed as women that is a classic its worked for hundreds of years, and will still carry on working, its funny as its just over 2 hours but it doesn't feel like it which for me indicates that's its a good film. I should say also this film is Directed by Billy Wilder who is just a legend in the directing world if you know your film history, and he also directed Sabrina in which I did a review on. 

                                                                  
The only thing that slightly frustrated me was the end where Sugar didn't really care too much that her friend was a guy and was cat-fishing her, but hey its a film and Marilyn Monroe so i'm not gonna judge her too harshly on that. Its also a film I'd recommend to anyone who isn't into or hasn't seen Classic films, as it's a light hearted comedy with Marilyn Monroe. It's an amazing film that everyone should watch and enjoy, if you haven't already I'll speak to you all soon have a wonderful day/evening wherever you are. 

Review: The Hunt

So we're gonna talk about another foreign film but this time its not a happy film or a film that children should watch, but its so good and I'm very happy I watched it as I've been going through a bit of a funk in terms of films where I just don't know what to watch and this film kinda sparked that curiosity back again. 

The story is about a man called Lucas who is a teacher in a very close-knit Danish village, he very well liked by everyone including the kids. Until one day he is at Theo his best friend's house, his daughter Klara has a little crush on Lucas and puts a love note in his pocket and kisses him on the lips, Lucas rebuffs Klara's feelings leaving Klara feeling hurt. At school Klara makes comments believing that Lucas sexually abused her, and everyone believes her soon other classmates say the same thing and shones Lucas as a Pedophile and Sexual Predator, and completely ostractised his son Marcus, Lucas's relationship with his girlfriend Nadja is ruined. 

This film is not for children by any means, as it deals with very dark themes there is also a scene that is just so horrifically disgusting it made me cry and that's a rare thing for me in terms of films, as I don't usually cry at films, real life things yes but not films. The whole film is in Danish but don't ever let language put you off from watching a film as yes understanding a film is important but just because its in a different language doesn't mean you can't understand it its like when babies talk and you can't understand them but you know what they mean, I worded it horrifically but it makes sense, plus always make sure it has subtitles aswell because that can help out a lot. 

Its one of those films that really makes you think, as its quite a deep story and not one you can just watch on a casual Friday night while having a takeaway, and particularly if you're not an avid film watcher because its not lighthearted. You really put yourselves in Lucas's shoes as to what its like having everyone treat you like nothing for something you didn't even do. As I'm pretty sure we've all got the blame for something at one point and felt wrongly accused. Its also a frustration with the children aswell, because as soon as one girl said something all the kids were like dominoes and said yes which is frustrating because we all know the truth. 

I love Lucas who is played by Mads Mikkelsen he is such a unique actor I've seen him on IMDB and he's basically the Dutch equivalent to Harrison Ford or something like that, he has a Dutch version of an OBE I think, he received an awful lot of awards for this film which he totally deserved because he is brilliant. Everyone else is amazing in this film but Mads really stands out for me he's also branched out into some mainstream films like Doctor Strange and Casino Royale which I did reviews on. The girl who played Klara is something, I reckon she's gonna get better or I hope I don't want her to turn into Lindsay Lohan. 

The scenery of this film is just gorgeous I like films that are set outside the city, don't get me wrong I love the city but especially when its a foreign film like this its nice that its not set in Copenhagen. Also it gets rid of the stereotype of it being all there is in Denmark are Vikings and they all drink, although there is some drinking in this film but in England we drink aswell. Its such a unique story but let me tell you after this film you'll need a drink because its so hard hitting. I hope you enjoyed this review and I'll speak to you all later have a nice day/week! 

Peppermint Friday Review #40: Amelie

This is a weird one as its a film thats pretty much on every list of 'Films You Should See Before You Die' most of the time I don't listen to these lists as they are written by white old men, and the same with Books aswell. Not to say that Classic older films are bad not at all, because we all know how I feel about old films! but if you haven't watch a film thats on that list its like 'you can't truly call yourself a film buff!' and I don't agree with that, but we're gonna talk about this film and is it worth it being on those list? 

This is a weird film directed and story by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, as the storyline for me anyway didn't make much sense, from what I got its about a girl called Amelie (played by Audrey Tautou) and her life story I guess from when she was a girl who was very lonely and still is in her adult years, developed a very active imagination.  Its the first live action French film I've ever watched, its also I think anyway one of the first French films to make it into the Mainstream Film Industry I guess, so thats really good and I can see why. The film is entirely in French and I don't speak French or understand it but I enjoyed the film very much its not my favourite film or the best film I've seen but its a good film.

Its funny because the way people talk about this film is as if there is no other film quite like it at the time of its release which was in 2001 but not anymore I don't think because there are films and tv shows I've seen that are in the same vein as this. For example Submarine that film is very similar to this not in the story line but the genre its about quirky people, its about love and the stylising and colours of different scenes are very similar, but baring in mind that Submarine came out in 2010 and this in 2001. But I love the colours and the style of this film, the costumes are wonderful too as they really represent each character and how they feel. 

One thing I do love about Amelie is the fact that she is a Waitress and I used to be a Waitress, so I feel abit of connection with her she is also very isolated kinda like me, but she uses her loneliness to help other people in her life. The film also has alot of sentinmental quotes as I've seen this film being quoted quite a lot, mainly by teenagers who think their so #weird. I love the quotes and the sentimentality of the film as it shows us we should help people if we can't help ourselves. Another thing with the antagonist and it made me laugh was her opinion I guess well she starts her job single, but not a virgin and her take on sex I think is funny. 

This film is very peculiar because its set in France and its the stereotypical venison of what we imagine of what France, it shines all the good bits. The peculiar thing is with the setting of the film we know its set from the 1970s when Amelie was born to late 90s-early 2000s. The costumes of what the characters are wearing is very in keeping with the times, but Amelie is very unique and shows to be the odd one out because she is wearing clothes that either don't fit in or that are abit quirky and different. I like the style and costumes of what she and the rest of the characters are wearing, all the colours its wonderful, but like with the Cafe Society Review if I only like the colours and scenery is it a film that's really worth watching? 

                                                                
I liked this film, mainly down to Amelie but would I watch it again if it was on Film4 then yeah. If you wanna watch a different film or you wanna get into French films or films that have no English in then give it ago 100%. I can definitely see all the inspirations that directors have taken from this film and what inspirations gave to this film. If I'm honest I'm abit lukewarm to this film as I liked it but I don't really see the hype in it, because there are films that are just as good and are in the same vein, but I can understand why people like it so much. Favourite Comic Book Characters #2

Because of Wonder Woman I'm back to being obsessed with Comic Book characters and all things DC and Marvel, plus most of these characters have their own TV shows. 

Wolverine

We're gonna start with Wolverine, I love him so much as a kid watching X-Men he was just really cool, and mainly the fact that he is this man who isn't like Superman where he wants to take care everyone, but a man who is incredibly flawed and we know he's a hero but the fact that he isn't a happy smiley hero a hero who's created in a lab it gives him an edge. Also the Wolverine that I know and everyone else knows so well is, Hugh Jackman I love what he did with Wolverine he completely reinvented the character and still kept it close to its roots and plus he's played Wolverine for just over 20 years and with his last Wolverine film out earlier this year Logan. I'm gonna miss Hugh Jackman but I'm excited for the next Actor to play Wolverine

Supergirl

Now this girl is so cool, oh god now I didn't really know who Supergirl was until this year and oh god she is amazing. Supergirl has only had one film unlike her cousin who's a man and he's pretty super too, yup its Superman. Honestly right Supergirl is giving him a run for his money, as yes she's only done one film but she hasn't made anything mediocre unlike Superman has, not to say he's a bad superhero its just people should know about his amazing cousin. She has her own TV Show and to be honest with you all if you wanna get to know Supergirl (which you totally should) you need to watch the TV Show as it's got Melissa Benoist in and its totally modernised and amazing. 

The Flash

I loved the Flash in Justice League when I was a kid he was so cheeky and funny particularly to Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl. In the TV Show The Flash, his and Supergirl's world combined and I love it. His character in the TV Show is still funny and witty but theres a real serious side to this man, and similar to Spiderman where he gets power on accident, and has to save Central City. I'm not sure why they got a different actor to play him in the new Justice League film as Grant Gustin who plays him in the TV Show is amazing, and I reckon the fans who watch The Flash might be abit sceptical towards Ezra Miller who's gonna play him, I'm sure he'd do a good job its just why have someone different when theres someone amazing already? you know.

Jessica Jones

This girl oh this girl, she is something Jessica Jones is agent who investigates in aliens and paranormal stuff, she used to be a Superhero but she still counts as this is called 'Favourite Comic Book Characters' but she is so badass. I mainly know about her in the Netflix Show Jessica Jones like most people do, but she is just so cool and Krysten Ritter who plays her is the coolest lady ever, plus Jessica Jones's boyfriend Luke Cage has his own TV Show aswell which I need to watch. Again with Wolverine she is a good guy but doesn't act like it which gives her a real edge and the fact that she doesn't walk around with a costume or looking like mutant, but a badass lady who takes no prisoners, plus she's very sassy and funny.

Peppermint Friday Review #39: Wonder Woman

This review has been a long time coming, as I have been looking forward to watching this film and talking about it because oh wow. 

First of all I was abit nervous not gonna lie as DC in terms of films haven't done aswell as there TV side, and the fact that its the first time a woman led a superhero film since Catwoman which went down like a cup of cold sick, and I think after that people just went 'well noone like female superheroes' which is not the case at all. Its just that Catwoman was done so badly and people just assumed superhero films can only be successful by men which is totally ludicrous. Also the fact that its not only a superhero film being led by a woman but also, an action film being directed by a woman, for me its amazing and I'm so happy it been made. 

I love this film so so so much, oh god I fangirled pretty hard while watching this. The costumes are amazingly done its so beautiful and with such detail I love the fact that the costumes aren't ridiculously revealing but also not looking like a nun. It got Themyscira down to a T it looks so beautiful, I loved all of Diana's family aswell. Watching the film I never got a sense of it being rushed, or overdone it was just wonderful. I think fans of the character of Diana/Wonder Woman will be very impressed at what they've done to the film and the character. Gal Gadot was just amazing as Wonder Woman she gave the character a boost into the modern age at the same time remaining true to the character and what she represents.

Other characters of the film who I loved were Ares who is played by David Thewlis, and Antiope who was played by Robin Wright and they were just brilliant. One amazing thing about this film is that its the first of a big budget mainstream Wonder Woman film, so in terms of characters they can kinda reinvent a whole new character and not have the pressure of a big actor/actress towering over them, apart from Wonder Woman of course. The way they did Doctor Poison/Isabel Maru who is played by Elena Anaya was just brilliant her mouth was just weird and scary I loved it because again never really heard of her as a Villain before.

Steve Trevor who is played by Chris Pine was just fantastic, I loved the bit when he's on the boat back to England with Diana and explains what life is like on Earth and in England and the war, the whole dialogue between them is just brilliant to watch its just so funny and adorable the fact that she's this woman who doesn't know anything about men because Themyscira doesn't have any men so she's abit of an alien. The soundtrack to this is amazing aswell, particularly the song that Sia did for it, its amazing and speaks volume as to what Wonder Woman represents and is about. 

Rumour has it that they are making a sequel to this which I am excited about but also scared because I don't want it to turn into a cash cow, and make them for the sake of it and it being not very good. As a female and someone who loves film and more in particular superheros its so important and wonderful that females are represented not only in film but the behind the scenes aswell. Its such an amazing film with amazing characters that everyone should watch, I hope you all have a wonderful day/weekend and I'll see you next Friday. 

Review: Bandidas

So we're gonna be talking about a film that I briefly mentioned on my last post this was the most recent film I watched and we're gonna talk about it today, because I really liked it.

One thing I will say about the plot of the film, its kinda like a Ping Pong Match just very sporadic and everyone just happens at once particularly at the beginning of the film, but the way it deals with it is really good. We start with two girls from different backgrounds Sara Sandoval and Maria Alvarez played by Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. Sara is from a very wealthy privileged background, very intelligent and Maria is total polar opposite to Sara, poor, very street wise. Their fathers Maria's being very kind and caring and Sara's very arrogant and money hungry, Maria's father is being forced off the land by a land Baron called Tyler Jackson played by Dwight Yoakam, both Sara and Maria's father come under attack from the Baron and Maria's father is killed but Sara's survives, and as an act of revenge they team up and become robbers and give back to poor Mexicans.

I like at the beginning they bicker and squabble like girls do and especially if they come from two different backgrounds. They soon meet Bill Buck who is an infamous robber and he helps them trust each other, the whole film is very funny and entertaining to watch. I even like the storyline, I do find it just bonkers its like the explaining the story scene from Moulin Rouge where its very OTT. But I'm not sure if some people will find that rhythm of storytelling in film annoying because I know some people do, but if you like Baz Lurhman then you'll love this as the style of film and his style are very similar. Its interesting because the joint Directors of the film are Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, there films are not OTT and Happy Clappy, well I mean they've only done two major films this one and Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Tells No Tales which is out now eek!

Bit of a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, so expect a review of that coming soon. I loved with the dynamic duo of the film, Sara whenever she held a gun her instant nervous

reaction towards it was to just have hiccups, and whereas with Maria is fantastic at guns but can't swim, but Sara can and is incredible at knife throwing. One scene however that not necessarily confused me, but I just didn't get why it was there. It was the scene when they recently met Quentin Cooke and they were trying to seduce him and they bickered about who's sexier and about how they kissed him wrong and such. I just didn't get what that scene bought out of the characters, was it meant to show their friendship and how they can bitch and moan about each other? was it meant to show Quentin being slightly intimidated by these girls? either way I just didn't get it at all.  

The costumes of the film were just brilliant, I already love that Spanish/Mexican part of it as it plays a huge role in the film. Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek are always amazing and actresses that don't often get talked about for the roles they've done, as they usually especially Penelope only get talked about because of how beautiful they are as if that's more important than them being a good actress or how well they played the role, not to say they aren't of course. A part of me wishes they made this film into a franchise but another part of me liked that they didn't as I would've loved to see the characters develop, change and grow older, but also it might probably will be just a remake but slightly different from the last one. Also it might have made it seem abit cheaper, so in some ways this film is like a golden nugget. 

                                                                        
I love this film, if you want a bit of a laugh and to entertain yourself then give it a go, but if you want something serious and hardcore then don't watch it. I have a feeling the whole two females taking on the world kinda thing will come back again, so I think maybe you'll see something along the lines of this again soon. Give this film ago even if you aren't a fan of Penelope Cruz or Salma Hayek as its very funny and quick to watch. I will see you all later and have a good day/evening wherever you are!

Never done one of these before, but why not? and plus you guys can to know me better and I thought it would be fun. So lets go!

1) How often do you watch a film? Considering I'm abit of a film buff and I have a film blog I try to watch atleast 3 or 4 a week.

2) What film genre are you particularly fond of? I love all genres, and I do try to find something good in each genre abit positive I know, not a bad thing at all though. If I had to choose then it would possibly be a Thriller/Drama but it depends on my mood really. 

3) What was the last film that you’ve watched and liked? I watched Bandidas recently and I loved it, I also watched Finding Nemo and Finding Dory because I was talking about it with a bunch of people, in a really deep way and I love those conversations and as soon as I got home I needed to watch it. 

4) What was the last film that you’ve watched and hated? I'm gonna leave you all in suspense and tell you all about it on Friday, because I don't think theres enough negativity on this blog which isn't a bad thing but I do think a film buff there should be some stuff we hate and with good reason. But heres a hint its based of a book and its quite popular, there you are have to wait until Friday!

5) What is your most favorite film of all time? ooh that is a tough one, I have a top 10 list so far, but the one I usually say to people when I can't think of my top ten is probably either A Matter Of Life and Death, or Young Frankenstein because people are always surprised when I say them and I always love that.

6) Your most favorite guilty pleasure film? I don't think I have one, because I love all the films I watch and noone should judge me, but I do have a bit of a thing for true crime stories so things like Moorside the BBC Drama based off true story of Shannon Matthews, and varies others things like that and also documentaries like that aswell. I'm obsessed with documentaries anyway, but its serial killers and all that evil stuff that actually really gets me, I don't want to be like that its just the fascination to me and the psychology behind it all. 

7) What film/films you have watched a million times already? All the Toy Stories, Big, Forrest Gump any Tom Hanks film. The Harry Potter series, Back to the Future series, and The Social Network. 

8) Are you the type who watch film on its first day of showing? Not really, depends how big of a fan I am when I watched Beauty and the Beast I saw that on the weekend it came out so that's how hardcore I am. 

9) Do you use fandango or do you pre-booked film tickets? I don't think we have Fandango in the UK, but no I don't usually pre book tickets for film sometimes for theatre but not really for film. 

10) Cinema, blu-ray, or download? I watch films in the Cinema when they're recent but if theres a DVD version or download either from Amazon, Itunes, or GooglePlay then I'll go for that. 

11) How often do you go to a Cinema to watch a film? Not that often, its really expensive now and where I live doesn't have a cinema so I have to go to the nearby city which is a bus ride 

12) What are the movies that made you cry? I'd say the end of Toy Story, Mary Poppins, Saving Mr Banks and the end of Marley and Me.

13) Do you watch foreign films? I've watched a few, but not a enough as I'd like but that is gonna change.

14) What’s your favorite foreign films? I haven't watched that many, but I'd say Persepolis, and Pinocchio 

15) Who are favorite directors? Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Sofia Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Danny Boyle the list is endless.

16) Are you particular with film scores, soundtracks, and musics? Its important yes, but its not the B all and end all, but they can make a film even better.

17) What film soundtrack can be found in your IPod? Do musicals count? because yes I have all the classic musicals, Singin in the Rain, Moulin Rouge, I even have La La Land aswell, along with all the Disney soundtracks and Pixar soundtracks. I also love Guardians of the Galaxy, Shrek, Perks of being a Wallflower, Hard Days Night (of course) all sorts. 

18) Have you ever watch a film alone in a cinema? Oh yeah, I usually do but when someone wants to come with me they are more than welcome. 

19) What is the best chick-flick for you? I love classic chick flicks, like anything with Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn because they are girly films, but they're also brilliant and not at all cringy, like the modern ones I find. 

20) Your favorite comic book film? ooh I love Spiderman, the Andrew Garfield films and Guardians of the Galaxy, Dark Knight, X Men, Fantastic Four.

21) Is there any film that has changed your perspective in life? A Matter of Life and Death definitely, The Cat Returns and Persepolis they're all wonderful for different reasons and changed my outlook on life, I've done in-depth reviews on them aswell.  

22) DC or Marvel films? That is so tough, I love both for different reasons, I love what they're doing on TV aswell. I just love both of them I can't decide, love 'em!

23) What are the films in the top 10 in IMDB that you have watched? I've watched 6 which is really bad for someone who's meant to be a film buff, but I promise you that will change.

24) Do you read film critic reviews before watching a film? its funny because I have a film blog and I write reviews and that I actually don't read reviews before I watch any film or take what people say into consideration as its opinion and that can vary someone likes one thing and you won't so I take it with a pinch of salt. 

25) What is the best film adapted from a book? Misery hands down

26) Watch the film before reading the book or vice versa? I do try to, because its better understanding of the story.

27) What is your most favorite comedy film? I love comedy, ahhh I love His Girl Friday, Hard Day's Night, Inbetweeners Movies, Charlie Chaplin films, Marx Brothers I love to laugh hahahaha 1000 points if you get that referance!

28) Drama film? ooh Angels with Dirty faces, Forrest Gump, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? theres like billions I could mention. 

29) Western film?  I haven't watched that many westerns, but I'd say Bandidas because its also funny and The Magnificent Seven. 

30) Romantic comedy film? Sabrina, Seven Year Itch, Some Like it Hot, 

31) Horror film? House on Haunted Hill, and The Invisible Man all the classics

32) Sports film? Haven't watched that many sports films, Chariots of Fire, Bend it Like Beckham

33) Sci-fi films? Brazil, Star Wars

34) Action films? The Spy Who Loved Me, Pulp Fiction, Kick Ass

35) War films? The Pianist, Diary Of Anne Frank, Saving Private Ryan

36) Who is your most favorite film couple? When I was a kid I was obessed with Elizabeth and Will from Pirates of the Caribbean and Troy and Gabriella from High School Musical, loved Jimmy Cagney and Jean Harlow in The Public Enemy and Peter and June from A Matter of Life and Death. 

37) Any film character you can relate to? urm, I can relate to Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffiany's, Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

38)  If you are to only watch five films for the rest of your life, what would the films be? Ah that's tough, I'd say Angels With Dirty Faces, A Matter Of Life and Death, Young Frankenstein, Breakfast at Tiffianys, Singin' In The Rain a bit of a mix of genres.  

39) Your least favorite film all time? Probably the reboot of Ghostbusters, nobody asked for it. 

40) Have you ever watched a film based on the lead actor/actress only? Oh yeah, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and anyone who I've seen in a film and I really liked them I'll watch them in another film. 

41) What film you expected and wanted to be good but failed you? I thought Suicide Squad would be better, I liked it but I wanted it to be amazing like Guardians of the Galaxy, and the next review I'm doing on Friday ooh the mystery. 

42) Favorite film character of all time? erm I don't think I have one, but I adore Peter from A Matter of Life and Death

43) Favorite film villain? I love the Joker, Voldemort, and Hannibal Lecter

44) Any film sequel you are still waiting? I don't think so, I'm not desperate for them to be honest.

45) Ever made a film review? Oh god no, hate 'em particularly Peppermint Friday haha jokes

47) Right now, think of any film, what comes first? Wonder Woman, and My Friend Dahmer because I wanna watch them next when they come out.

50) Lastly, if your life story is to be made into a film, who would you like to portray you? Who should be directing it and what would be the title? I'd love Audrey Hepburn or Catherine Zeta Jones to play me, and I'd love it Sofia Coppola or Stanley Kubrick, or Martin Scorsese and I don't know what the film would be called.
